GetBlock’s 2026 wedge: cost and failure control for production multichain RPC.
Standard-mode research across 15 sources: competitor positioning, pricing/packaging, developer demand, enterprise requirements, AI-agent opportunities, contradictions, confidence, and 3 bets for the next 90 days.

1
strategic wedge
Own predictable cost, workload isolation, incident proof and enterprise control.
Executive findings
- The market sells production control, not endpoints. Major providers package abstract units, RPS, support, SLAs, security/compliance, archive/debug and dedicated capacity.
- GetBlock should stop leading with chain count. Alchemy and QuickNode own platform breadth; Infura owns default Ethereum trust; Chainstack/Dwellir/dRPC attack pricing clarity; Ankr owns free/public RPC. GetBlock can own reliability proof for production workloads.
- Enterprise proof is now a product surface. Buyers expect cost predictability, uptime/SLA, compliance/security documentation, private/dedicated capacity, support response and observability.
- Developer demand is multichain, but don’t overclaim exact numbers. Electric Capital is the stronger developer-data source; a16z supports Ethereum/L2 + Solana momentum but is an interested VC source.
- AI-agent RPC is a pilotable wedge, not proven revenue. Coinbase AgentKit, QuickNode MCP/AI tooling, Chainstack AI-ready infra, dRPC AI Agents/MCP and Ankr vRPC/agent claims show category motion, but mostly from interested sources.
Competitor map
| Provider | What they own | Opening for GetBlock |
| Alchemy | Developer platform, education, CUs, strong free/PAYG funnel. | CU-to-production-cost calculator; dedicated infrastructure for teams outgrowing PAYG. |
| QuickNode | Premium broad platform: RPC, streams, webhooks, dedicated clusters, MCP/Admin API. | Focused private RPC proof instead of platform breadth; credit-to-dedicated break-even. |
| Infura | Consensys/MetaMask trust, Ethereum default, clear paid tiers. | Multichain expansion, backup/failover, chain-specific dedicated endpoints. |
| Chainstack | Transparent request-unit pricing, calculators, global/dedicated/self-hosted nodes. | Benchmark hub + workload calculator; prove p95/p99/method cost, not adjectives. |
| dRPC / Dwellir | Simpler economics, high RPS claims, anti-CU-opacity positioning. | Neutral workload modeling plus enterprise support/procurement proof. |
| Ankr | Free/public RPC top-of-funnel and verifiable/agent-oriented claims. | “Public RPC → production RPC” migration funnel and agent-safe control layer. |
3 practical 90-day bets
1. RPC Cost & Reliability Proof Hub
Ship Alchemy CU, QuickNode credit, Chainstack RU and Infura daily-credit calculators plus five benchmark pages by chain/method/region.
Confidence: HighOwner: PMM + infra
KPI: 50 calculator-qualified leads, 15 sales calls using calculator output, 5 benchmarked prospect workloads.
2. Enterprise Reliability Launch
Package SLA explainer, procurement/security pack, RCA template, private benchmark pilot, and one-pagers for enterprise web2→web3 and analytics/indexing teams.
Confidence: Med-HighOwner: Sales + CS + infra
KPI: 20 ABM accounts, 5 proof pilots, 3 procurement packs sent, 2 case-study candidates.
3. AI-Agent RPC Safety Gateway
Pilot scoped agent keys, spend limits, method allowlists, simulation-before-send, audit logs, MCP wrapper, and x402/stablecoin demo.
Confidence: Med-LowOwner: DevRel + product
KPI: 3 demos, 100 signups, 10 agent/wallet/payment discovery calls, go/no-go decision.
Contradictions to keep visible
- Cheapest depends on method mix. CU/credit/RU/request models cannot be compared honestly without archive, debug, logs and RPS shape.
- Uptime percentages are not equivalent contracts. 99.9/99.99 claims need plan scope, exclusions and incident process.
- AI-agent demand is mostly vendor-signaled. Good enough for a pilot; not enough for aggressive revenue forecasting.
- Crypto ownership and onchain activity can diverge. a16z reports ownership up while monthly active addresses were down, so choose demand metrics carefully.
Confidence table
| Claim | Confidence | Basis |
|---|
| RPC packaging = units/RPS/SLA/support/archive/security/dedicated capacity. | High | Primary official pages across competing providers. |
| Enterprise needs reliability proof and procurement pack. | Medium-high | Consistent vendor enterprise packaging; needs buyer interviews. |
| GetBlock wedge = production cost/failure control. | Medium | Strategic synthesis from competitor gaps and GetBlock capabilities. |
| AI-agent RPC safety gateway should be built. | Medium-low | Multiple vendor/VC signals; revenue still unproven. |
